South Central formed late 2006 hitting the ground running with a series of 12" bootlegs and a rapid succession of remixes for the likes of Metronomy, Klaxons and The Whip; becoming defacto remixers of the blogosphere whilst gaining regular airplay from the likes of Eddie Temple Morris, John Kennedy, Annie Mac and Pete Tong.
Soon their own material was in demand with each new track they produced being snatched up and released by labels as diverse as Young Turks/XL to EMI's Regal imprint. Much lauded singles such as 'Castle of Heroes' and 'Golden Dawn' found their way from MTV on to video games such as Motor Storm 2 and Dance Revolution. Meantime 'Aeon' and 'Revolution' were snapped up for commercials for Bacardi and Mazda.
Rob and Keith - for it is they who inhabit the shadowy interiors of those trade mark black hoods - gathered these tracks together and released them as a compendium album entitled 'The Owl Of Minerva' on their own Egregore label. Garnering yet more critical praise in every quarter of the music periodical spectrum from Mixmag and IDJ to NME and Artrocker.
In support of this release South Central were busy touring the UK with their live band with the likes of The Whip and Does It Offend You Yeah?
Meanwhile their unique, genre hopping and energy infused laptop and DJ shows were making waves and inspiring new legions of acolytes. Securing a residency at Club NME Paris and playing alongside Ed banger's Vicarious Bliss it was here that they were spotted by rocktronica royalty The Prodigy and Pendulum.
These chance encounters resulted in South Central DJ's being personally invited to perform their rapture-inducing warm up duties for audiences of both Pendulum and Prodigy, supporting not only UK tours but also Europe and Japan.
The remixes continued with a maximal rendition of the Prodigy's Warriors Dance and eclectic mix of international acts from US Dance legends Crystal Method, France's Toxic Avenger and 'New York's loudest band' A Place To Bury Strangers.
2010 see's South Central DJ's completing two European tours with the Prodigy performing at Rage Against the Machines historic free gig at Finsbury Park and recorded collaborations with Gary Numan, Pendulum, A Place To Bury Strangers and the release of their long anticipated debut artist album.
South Central's 'Demons' will be released on French dance titan Vitalic's Paris based Citizen label in October 2010.
