In June of 2010, Black Whales entered the studio with Seattle veteren producer, John Goodmanson(Deathcab For Cutie, The Cathaters, Unwound) to record their 1st full length debut. Recording started at London Bridge and then moved to Mr. Goodmansons home studio to finish up the main tracks. Around September percussionist/keyboarder Mike Bayer decided to leave the band to focus on his other projects(Amateur Radio Operator/The Notwist). This brought in former Slender Means Keyboardist, David E. Martin. Between October 2010 and February 2011 Black Whales continued to add extra instrumentation and overdubs via their own home recording technologies. Mixing of the record is in it's final stages and a released date for late spring early summer is expected.
